American Icon
My rough composition sketch for "Icon." Before this I did some free association and picked my five strongest words from the list. I had even thought of a couple images as I was making the list that I got a little too attached to. I narrowed it down to two which you see. I changed the scene's location to be in front of a capitol building in the final. The other composition was going to be icon related to gangs, but the final sketch wasn't really what i had in mind.

Franky!
Here's a few Frankenstein ideas...
Phil Lietz provided some nice marker work on the left one.
This is how I imagined Dr. Frankenstein would improve his
monster the 2nd time around. It's Frankenstein 2.0!

FAKE Juxtapoz Cover
So this is NOT a real Juxtapoz Cover! I would like to make that clear. I know everyone had midterms last week its understandable that no one has posted in a couple of weeks but its time to get back on it. I hope to see some work by others that have not posted.
I used acrylic paint, wheat paste and photoshop to apply the magazine covers name.

If I wasn't an Artist...
Friday, October 2, 2009
These are a few things I might be if I weren't an artist.
These are a few fun stupid sketches of me if art wasnt my choice, we have a marker sniffing fiend, a fat x-box nerd living in a basement somewhere, dead in trash can is always an option, useless passed out frat boy, or a spanish figure skater on wheels. Some are pretty cliche but whatever its all practice in good fun.

Let's Get This Party Started!
Whatuuuup my fellow arteests? My hope is that this blog will help us get motivated to draw beyond what we're asked to in the classroom, and to give us a focus beyond mindless doodling. How cool is it that we're gonna get paid (hopefully) to do something as cool as making art? So first thing's first, let's see what it is you'd be if you weren't an artist!
Theme numero uno: If I Wasn't an Artist
that oughtta motivate you to get drawing.
