Behemotherium

Just another wierd creature design done in about1.5 hrs. I used the spine of a buffalo to create the sail structure on its back, then combined elephant, and rhino anatomy with reptilian traits to complete its design. I also threw in a small figure to show size in comparison to a human.

Sea Serpent

This was my first attempt at a one hour illustration. This took 1 hr and 18 minutes to sketch and add basic color and shading all done in photoshop.

1 Hour Creature

So this creature took an hour to draw unfortunately i was only able to get a basic gradient down for the color. I used a horse, crocodile, a few types of dinosaur and an ancient species of wort hog as inspiration.

So, I started around 1:15 but I didn't finish, it is now 2:18 and I am posting this is as far as I took it. ill get faster as I go. its an okay start this is my 3rd computer illustration I want to do this more I am really liking the process and how forgiving it is. the undo short cut is MAGIC! Haha

alright, a new challenge if you're up to it.

so here are a couple of artists that do a fantastic job with one day sketch illustrations. they're not done for work, simply to challenge themselves in their free time! in an afternoon of free time they can whip out some pretty solid work, y'think we can do the same? it's all about consistent practice and perseverance! so this first guy is pascal campion, i met him in california...gave me some of the best advice for storytelling i've ever heard. the next guy is new to me, warwick johnson. cool name, eh?

so if you want a new challenge, let's do an illustration in....two hours. one hour if you want to be a superhero. notice how these guys aren't getting real detailed...it's simple, bold information. maybe only two colors, real gestural in their acting, and the values clearly separate objects, zoning in on the focal points.

no theme, do what you want....but impress us!

Quick little character, and some links!

Hey everyone! Thanks to Zach for gathering us back together! Let's see if we can finish out this semester with some regular updates. I think instead of throwing out a theme, let's just share sketches, ideas, encouragements, inspirations, and yadda yadda yadda.

This was done as a bit of a joke for Phil Lietz. Tweren't more than a quick sketch, but i tought i'd throw down some colors and post it here.

Sometimes I Do Things

We've been working with pen and ink in Life Drawing 4 and as today was the last day we had a really long pose. I took this chance to nail my pencil drawing so I could do the best inking I could. I looked at some of Jim Lee's work around halfway through thinking later I might color it. I'm pretty surprised I actually sat down to get some color on it, but I'm glad I did as the model's image was still fresh in my mind. :)
